Well, this WAS my first ever cache
hide, and whilst it took a very long time from when it was
muggled, to when I got to re-create it today, it is finally
re-created.
New spot a bit further up the hill to give you the view as a
reward for doing the cache.
New Container, Sistema 1-litre painted and coated to disguise
it.
DO NOT GO LINE OF SIGHT TO CACHE!!!
I seriously MEAN IT. This place isn't called "The Big
Hole" for nothing. The hole is huge and VERY DEEP, and
unfenced. DO NOT wander from paths until you've reached the viewing
platform at the hole, then you'll see a well worn track up the
right hand side of the hole, where people have gone up to see the
view from the top of the hill.
Note the co-ordinates in the extra waypoints for the turn-off
into the camping/parking area, as it can be easy to miss the
turn-off.
Since I would hate for someone to go all this way and get a DNF
(my apologies to those who found the cache muggled), pretty
detailed info on hiding spot will be included in the encrypted
portion.
And lastly, do have a look at the photo I've uploaded of the
Marble Arch Gorge in my last log, it will inspire you to go the
extra mile (well extra 8kms) to go see the gorge, it's is
spectacular.
Oh, and Mountain bikes are allowed, and whilst not ideal for the
portion of the trip to the hole, they would be very very worthwhile
for a lot of the rest of the trip to the Marble Arch, they would
save a lot of shoe leather I would think. So put up with the
pushing of the bike for half the trip to the hole, for the energy
saving it will provide for so much of the rest of the trip.
Enjoy the cache, and G'Luck.
