Lydiard Park, with easy access from M4 Junc 16. Cache & location designed for Children (big or small!) and is only 150m from the car park.
Lydiard Park is 260 acres of 18th centuary parkland within easy reach of Junction 16 of the M4. It is one of Wiltshires smaller stately homes and visitors are allowed access to the house.
The Visitor centre by the main car park (N51 33.608 W1 51.312) has exhibitions and a cafe, which serves snacks, drinks etc at reasonable prices.. St Mary's Church is one of Englands finest small churches, richly packed with monuments to the St John Family. If closed the key can be obtained from the house.
For younger visitors there is a large woodland adventure playground, ducks to feed and several woodland walks.
Bad Pun Time:
We AVENUE location and the cache is hidden in a TREEmendous spot although you may have to ROOT around a little. Don't forget to LOG your entry when you find it. The spot was chosen by James age 4 so just think like him!
Updated 7 Feb: Revisted the cache to restock it, so the box is jammed full. There's something for everyone there.
Updated 14 May 2005: Moved location by 10m so please note slightly changed co-ordinates. We think the local kids knew where this was which is why it kept getting emptied.
Restocked with lots of new goodies.
