Join us on Saturday morning, September 14th, for the 11th Chrysler Treasures Meet & Greet, followed by a tour of the Chrysler Museum's most recent photography exhibit led by Episcodad. Gather in the museum’s Huber Court at 11 am for the Meet and Greet with the tour beginning at 11:10 am. The Museum is located at One Memorial Place, Norfolk, Virginia. Parking and admission to the museum is free.
Over the past 5 years, the Chrysler has hosted 20 photography exhibitions. Often drawn from the Museum’s 6000 item photo collection, these shows presented works by notable figures from the history of photography, including Ansel Adams, Larry Clark, and Alexander Gardner.
Five Years of Photography does something a little different. Since 2014, the Chrysler Museum of Art has committed to reviving its photography program with new acquisitions, and this exhibition shares 50 of the best of its recent additions. Just last year, the Museum acquired more than 500 photographs. Priorities include diversifying the collection by adding more photographs by women, people of color, and artists working in Hampton Roads. Special attention has also been given to objects that reflect on the history of the medium.
