Welcome to the  *Musical Gully*  Wherigo Series
An anthology of Australian contemporary music

MG14 OUT IN THE COUNTRY

Every January, country music artists and fans make their pilgrimage to Tamworth NSW for the Golden Guitars – the Country Music Association of Australia awards. Many of our contemporary country music stars have kick started their careers from this iconic event. Rock (n roll) on cowboy!

INSTRUCTIONS

This is a PLAY-ANYWHERE Wherigo. (Which means you don’t have to be in the vicinity of the posted co-ordinates in order to run the cartridge.)

It contains 10 Australian music clips, each with a question for you to answer.

Answers are either in the form of a word or two to be entered, or a menu choice selection.
(Tips for menu choices: Android – look for the small triangle to the right of the first word to pull down the other choices. Apple IOS – once your selection is highlighted, click DONE in the top left hand corner of the screen.)

When you have completed the quiz, you will be given the numbers you need for the cache.

The questions are designed to be fun and easy. If you aren’t familiar with the music, or it’s simply not your style, there should be enough information in the images and the questions to be able to research the answer.

You will need to have your sound turned up on your device to hear the music clips. This makes it suitable for Smartphones, but unsuitable for Garmin GPS. However, as mentioned above, there should be enough information in the images and the questions to be able to research the answer, even if you have no sound.

Don't forget to scroll down the screen to check for more information. Sometimes an image may fill the screen and it may not be obvious there is more below.

Android Whereyougo app users: If you see a SCAN QR CODE button on your screen, just ignore it. It is something to do with Whereyougo itself, not the cartridge. Let us know if you find out how to turn it off!

Thank you to Kyzabra & OzGeoMuster for their inspiration and support for this series.
Also thank you to Lazyade for help with creating the cartridges in the series.

Getting Started : Downloading and Playing a Wherigo Cartridge

  • Firstly, if you don’t already have a Wherigo Player on your smartphone, you will need to download one from your apps store. WHEREYOUGO is a popular Android player, and WHERIGO is a popular Apple IOS player. Alternatively, for Android users, there is now a paid Android geocaching app called GEOOH GO that includes a built-in Wherigo player that will seamlessly download and play cartridges without needing to have a separate app.

WHEREYOUGO (Android)

  1. In the Settings section of your app, enter your geocaching login and password.
  2. Click on the link on the cachepage (ie this page), to download the cartridge, using the Whereyougo app to do this task.
  3. Click the "DOWNLOAD" button and the cartridge should automatically download to your phone.
  4. Click the "START" button to start the cartridge. Make sure your sound is turned up on your phone and away you go.
  5. If you wish to play the cartridge later on, simply open the WHEREYOUGO app, press "Start" and you will be presented with a list of cartridges that you have previously downloaded.

WHERIGO (Apple IOS)

  1. Click on the link on the cachepage (ie this page), to download the cartridge, using your phone's web browser to complete this task.
  2. This should take you to the wherigo.com website. You will need to login at the top right of that webpage with your geocaching login and password. (Once logged in, if you select "Remember Me", you won't have to do this step every time you download a cartridge - it is up to you.)
  3. Click the blue "DOWNLOAD" button for the cartridge.
  4. Check that "Download cartridge file for POCKET PC DEVICE" is selected (it should be as it is now the default).
  5. Click the "DOWNLOAD NOW" button. This will download the cartridge to your phone.
  6. Open the WHERIGO app, and select the cartridge you wish to play. Make sure your sound is turned up on your phone and away you go.
