Commentary: These coordinates will not bring you to the cache. The coordinates will bring you to a memorial that recognizes those who have served in the French and Indian War, the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, and the Mexican War. To find the actual cache coordinates, you must do a little analysis using the information on the memorial.
The coordinates of the cache are:
N 40°.04.9AD
W 077.32.C7B
To find the letters (A, B, C and D), you must read the information on the monument and locate the year in which the memorial was dedicated.
Once you have found the date, identify the odd and even numbers.
- Use the smaller of the odd numbers as the value for “A”
- Use the larger of the odd numbers as the value of “B”
- Use the larger of the even numbers as the value for “C”
- To find “D”, take the value for “C” and divide by 2. The result is the value of “D”
You will now be able to complete the final digits to the actual cache.
The initial coordinates are in a cemetery, so please be respectful. The actual cache is not on the cemetery property. The container is a micro, so be sure to bring a pen. I hope you have as much fun as my daughter and I did researching and putting it together.
Update: According to several who have already found the geocache, the coordinates are slightly off. Keep in mind that it is a micro and MAGNETIC cache. Use your intuition and geocaching skills when getting close to the LZ....or read the clues others have provided. Have fun!
