Our first cache named "Sky Liquid" was placed at the old water tower in Airdrie, Alberta. You've probably seen it as you drive past Airdrie on the Number 2 highway. We think these old relics are quite interesting and definitely give the towns of Alberta a distinctive look, so we plan on placing a few more at different locations and making "Sky Liquid" a series.
Vulcan's water tower is a big one! You can see it quite a distance away while driving to or from the town. It sits in a nice little park space beside the Town of Vulcan building. Vulcan, of course, is known for its Star Trek theme, with its replica USS Enterprise, Enterprise shaped streetlights, a bust of Spock and Leonard Nimoy's handprint, a replica Star Trek shuttle, a tourism and "Trek" centre, and the many businesses around town referencing the beloved Sci-Fi franchise. They also hold frequent conventions with guest speakers hailing from many of the series and movies.
Vulcan itself is a charming little town with a nice, walkable downtown core, and the surrounding countryside is a beautiful snapshot of rural Alberta.
