Durante el siglo XIX numerosos viajeros románticos hacían el trayecto entre Gibraltar y Granada por el conocido "Camino Inglés". Un punto de paso era Gaucín donde se hacía la primera noche. Viajeros como Washington Irving, Richard Ford, Prosper Mérimée, Edmon Boissier, Gustavo Doré, etc. pasarón por aquí. El acceso al pueblo si vienes desde Gibraltar era por el lugar donde te encuentras "Callejón del Pino" o "Camino de Gibraltar". En la actualidad todavía se puede recorrer esta gran Ruta, cuya puesta en valor está haciendo la asociación ARUVIRO (www.aruviro.es). Además el último domingo de agosto, este camino se recorre desde aquí hasta la ermita de La Adelfilla durante la romería del Santo Niño, imagen de gran devoción.
During the nineteenth century many romantic travelers made the journey between Gibraltar and Granada along the well-known "English Way". One step was Gaucín where it was the first night.
