Bowstring Wildlife Area is an 87-acre woodland area that features wooded hillsides that open into several fingers of restored prairies offering a view over the floodplain bottom bordering Lytle Creek. The name ‘Bowstring’ comes from the unique form of bridge leading to only this property as the road stops. This bridge was built in 1878 and is one of three bowstring structures in the state of Iowa that is still standing at its original site. The area is open to hunting with an abundance of wildlife species and maintained food plots throughout the site. Hiking trails trace though the hillsides and up the prairies as well. This area is located on the southern end of Dubuque County off Creek Branch Lane near Zwingle, Iowa. Find this geocache in a unique spot that highlights the name of this property.
