You are standing at the bottom of the Main Street Stairs. Please read the plaque to learn the history of the stairs and gather some of the needed information to calculate the final coordinates.
Initially made of wood, the stairs were extended, altered and rebuilt numerous times, finally being replaced in the late 19th Century with the concrete version that exists today. The lowest three sets of stairs were replaced in 2017.
To calculate the final coordinates, let
ABC = # of stairs -9;
ST = year stairs were originally built -1809; and
XYZ = # of sets of stairs equivalent to climbing Pike's Peak +221.
