Avisford Nature Reserve was created in June 1985, and covers an area of 2437ha, and consists of three separate properties.
The area is steep hills, rocky canyons, and grassy clearings. The central property is accessed via Waterworks Road and contains the historic dam ruins and an 8kl return walking trail. The walking track is easy to follow, and is a good easy walk. It is not necessary to do the 8kl walk to get to the posted coordinates.
