This is an event to observe the tide going out, revealing the old causeway leading to the St Helens fort. We will meet between 16:45 and 17:30 on Saturday 31st August near the Old St Helens Church where there should be nice views of the fort.
Please ensure you log your "Will Attend" so we know to expect you.
You should be able to spot us, look out for the seagull...
Around the time this event finishes, you will probably notice a large number of people heading up to the fort itself.
Once or twice a year in summer when the tide is just right, a mass of people descend upon East Wight to visit the St Helens Fort (AKA the Bembridge Fort, if you are from Bembridge). Low tide is at around 18:10.
The walk is not for the faint hearted. It takes approximately 30 minutes from the shore at St Helens Old Church or Bembridge Point to reach the fort and hence a 60 minute round trip. What you choose to do after the event is entirely your own decision; we are certainly not recommending that you even consider joining in on this walk.
Please note that the area of St Helens will be very busy and parking will be a nightmare, so arrive in plenty of time.
