Geocache Description:

20/7/2025 New DRY log placed in and container checked, all is well. NOTE: plenty of room for TB in this Cache

We have always played games in the car when travelling, we have covered a lot of kms across the country and a game that my 2 boys made up was “Water, No Water” where upon coming up to a bridge they would call “Water, No Water” then call out whether they thought there would be water in the creek or the river. A fairly simple game until a river was passed where there was water only on one side of the bridge, and both would think they were correct!

The Isaac River is a huge river system which runs into the Mackenzie River. Predominantly dry, with a few waterholes along the way, as a general rule travelling over the Jim Turner Bridge it is usually safe to call “No water”

The 2011 floods saw the Isaac in full flow, with the water lapping over the sides of the bridge, an event that brought many locals out to the bridge for a look at such a great site.

This cache should not be touched by the water flowing down the Isaac, unless we get close to those levels again, and in that case it will be removed until the river subsides.

The safest and smartest way to access the cache is to park with the grey nomads in the rest stop ( here you can collect another cache if you are a premium member.)

Then find the path leading down to the river and walk across the dry bed.

The cache is NOT above the bridge so there is NO need to be up on the road at all. Closed in shoes are recommended, and as always keep an eye out for local creatures.

After you find the cache, take the time to sit on the bank and imagine how the river would look full of running water...
