This collection of caches is based on the Church Micro series in the UK, which has over 12,000 caches. Given that Adelaide is affectionately known as the City of Churches it seems appropriate to have a small series hidden at historical churches.
St Cuthbert’s Anglican Church, Prospect
The foundation stone for St Cuthbert's Anglican Church at 2 Ballville Street, Prospect was laid on 10 April 1915 and the church opened on 24 November 1915.
The church is included on the State Heritage List . According to the listing, it is an intact example of late Gothic Revival church architecture in Adelaide. The building is a significant work of the architect Louis Laybourne Smith, and the internal timberwork in particular exhibits excellent craftsmanship. The church retains the original layout except for the addition of a small altar in the sanctuary.
The listing goes on to indicate that St Cuthbert's is a major example of the Edwardian trend in English ecclesiastical architecture [and] together with St. George's, Goodwood, it is the only truly fashionable church of the dying decades of the Gothic Revival. It is also a remarkable example of the use made by Australian designers of the latest overseas ideas appearing in contemporary books and journals.
Embedded in the western (Prospect Road) side of the building is the original foundation stone from the (previous) mission church and school in Clifton Street, laid on 1 November 1883.
There is a separate,more recently constructed belltower adjacent to the church on the south (Ballville Street) side. According to the plaque, the tower and bells were given by Hilda May Ward and dedicated in memory of her parents on 7 November 1971.

Near the front of the church (adjacent to Prospect Road), you will find a wooden seat with a small plaque commemorating the years of service of the Mothers Union of St Cuthbert’s Church. Use the numbers on the plaque to calculate the following:
A = 4th number
B = 1st number + 8th number
C = 2nd number
D = 6th number
E = 4th number – 1st number
F = 3rd number
