Geocache Description:

The posted coordinated will bring you to what may be a very important facility. Hours are restricted though. Currently winter hours are operating from 8am to 6pm. There is no indication of when the summer hours start or the duration of the opening time. There was an article in the Otago Daily Times on Tuesday 11-3-14 about a contractor been punched a couple of times at 7:45pm on the previous Sunday when he was trying to lock the toilets so that may give an indication of the approx closing time during summer hours. If you are really caught short there are 24 hour facilities at S45 54.715 E170 29.361.

These facilities replaced the previous ones that were located by "Noah's Ark Cafe" that was demolished about 9 years ago. As early as 2006 the city council had identified new toilets at Marlow Playground as a priority at a cost then of about $270,000. Noah's Ark had been built in 1945 and was in poor condition by 2010 and it was decided to demolish the building and not replace it.

There are seperate mens and womens entrances. There is wheelchair accesscubicle  in the womens with a nappy changing table. 3 stalls in total. The floor is lined with lino. Overall the womens facilities are clean and tidy. I didn't venture into the mens.

Marlow Playground is very popular with young children and the diansour slide is memorable. I spent many a day there with my children in the days when the cafe was open.

From the posted cordinates  take a10 degree bearing and travel a grand distance of about 7.5m. This should bring you to the next waypoint where you will see a plaque on the wall. From here you will gather the necessary information to take you to the cache which is located at

S45 54.ABC E170 30.DEF

B = 4th digit

C = 9th digit

D = 15th digit

E = 5th digit

F = 3rd digit minus 13th digit

Access to the cache is along an informal track to the beach. Once you find the cache it is worthwhile going the extra few metres to the lovely views along the beach.

The cache itself is a 50ml screw top container a couple of metres to the left of the track when you are facing the beach.
