여기는 왜 위로 올라가면서 암석의 모양이 다를까요?
구라이골은 한탄강으로 흘러드는 시냇물이 있던 작은 계곡에 용암이 흘러 들어와서 현무암이 만들어진 곳입니다. 이후 오랜 세월동안 다시 하천이 되면서 현무암층이 깎여서 작은 계곡이 생겼지요. 한탄강을 따라 흐르던 용암은 한번에 흐른 것이 아니고 여러번 흘렀습니다. 이 지역을 잘 보면 아래에서 위로 가면서 몇 부분의 암석이 서로 다르게 보입니다. 이는 각각 다른 시기에 흘러들어왔던 용암이 서로 다른 조건에서 식으면서 모양과 구조가 다르게 만들어졌기 때문이지요. 학자들은 이러한 모양을 보고 용암이 어떤 조건에서 암석으로 굳어졌는지 연구합니다.
Why are the shapes of the rocks different in each layers?
Guraigol valley is a place where lava flowed into a small valley leading to the Hantan River. For a long time, the basalt layer was cut off by the rivers and a small valley was formed again. Lavas that flowed along the Hantan River did not flow at once, but flowed several times. If you look closely from the cache zone, you will see different parts of the rock from bottom to top. This is because the lava that flowed in at different times was cooled in different condition and made different shapes and structures. Scholars observe these shapes and structures to study in what conditions the lava hardened into rock.
