Entry to the House is not required to find the cache
Belton House was built using Ancaster stone in the 1680s for Sir John Brownlow. The National Trust took ownership of Belton House in 1984 and bought the surrounding parkland. There are approximately 1300 acres of tree lined avenues, grasslands, lakes, and a stretch of the River Witham within the grounds. Today it has a dual purpose as a haven for wildlife and the Trust's only naturally maintained deer park.
The cache is located just off the trail that runs to the far edges of the Belton House Gardens near the Tar Lane Pond. This pond has an abundance of wildlife, and at the right time of year, a waterlily display that would rival Monet's Garden! Unfortunately, NO GEO-DOGS are allowed.
The container is large enough for small trackables. The tree cover may play havoc with your GPS, so once you're there - use your 'geo-senses'! Weather and season dependent you should have a view of the Bellmount Tower, which is well worth a walk up (you can't get there from inside the Belton House grounds though).
Many thanks must go to the gardeners and grounds staff who have advised on the siting of this cache - the Area Ranger even had the container made! If you like it - please 'Favourite' it to show your appreciation of their hard work.
*IMPORTANT NOTE* COVID-19 UPDATE Please ensure you have hand sanitiser with you for caching. Also be aware of the restricted opening times of both Belton House grounds and the shops/restaurant - REMEMBER, you will require a mask when entering any indoor spaces.
BYOP - if you 'forget/lost/broke' your pen & can't sign the log, just send me a message/email with a description of the container or a photo as proof. I periodically check logs and will delete any that aren't signed and can't provide any proof of actually being there...
