John Hammill, is buried right here in Britt, Ia. First a little information about Gov. John Hammill. John Hammill served 3 terms as the 24th Gov. of Ia from 1925-1931. He was born Oct. 14, 1875 in Linden Wi., died April 6, 1936. Ia. Gov. John Hammill served as the Lieautenant Gov. of Ia. from Jan.13, 1921 until he assumed the role of acting Gov. in Aug. of 1923 because of medical problems of Gov. N.E. Kendall. Hammill then served as the elected Gov, of Ia from Jan. 15, 1925 to Jan. 15, 1931. He also served as county attorney of Hancock County from 1902-1908 and then in the Senate prior to becoming Lieutenant Gov. He died April 6, 1936 of a heart attack in a Minniapolis hotel room./p>
Couldn't find much information about the cemetery except that it appears the first burial was in 1878. It is a very big cemetery.
