Allt sedan Vaxholm fick sina stadsrättigheter 1647 har det funnits någon sorts rådhusbyggnad i detta kvarter.
Den byggnad som uppfördes under 1600-talet ersattes i slutet av 1800-talet av ett arkitektritat rådhus som kom att innehålla en rådhussal, stadens häkte och borgmästarens bostad på övervåningen.
Det nuvarande utseendet har rådhuset haft sedan 1925. Idag används det som kommunhus, för utställningar samt att Vaxholms turistinformation finns i rådhusets nedre plan.

Ever since Vaxholm got its city rights in 1647, there has been some sort of town hall building in this neighbourhood.
The building that was erected during the 17th century was replaced in the late 1800s by an architect drawn town hall that included a council hall, the city's detention centre and the mayor's residence on the second floor.
The current appearance has been the town hall since 1925. Today it is used as a municipal hall, for exhibitions and that Vaxholm's tourist information is in the lower floor of the town hall.
