About SideTracked Caches
This cache belongs to the SideTracked series. It is not designed to take you to a magical place with a breath taking view. It's a distraction for the weary traveller, but anyone else can go and find it too. More Information can be found at the SideTracked Website
Hartford station was built by the Grand Junction Railway and opened in September 1837. The GJR became a constituent of the newly formed London and North Western Railway on 16 July 1846, which in turn was absorbed by the London Midland and Scottish Railway(LMSR) in 1923.
The LMSR was nationalised within British Railways on 1 January 1948 and the station and its train services were thereafter operated by the London Midland Region of BR. The station buildings were greatly rationalised at the time of the West Coast electrification in the 1960s.
The station is served by trains to/from Birmingham New Street and Liverpool Lime Street. The station is operated by London Northwestern Railway.
The cache is located a short walk from the station, but overlooks the railway.
