Flinty’s Boardwalk around Ross Lake was conceived in the mid 1990s and implemented by a founding committee of 10 members, including, at that time, Delores Baird and Graham Craig. The lakeshore was cleaned up, the boardwalk built, and a trail constructed to the NW corner of Ross Lake. Funding came from an HRDC employment program, the City of Flin Flon, the Rotary Club, a number of local businesses, and the sale of boardwalk boards. More recently the project has received a number of grants from various sources. The Flinty Committee at present is made up of Dave Price (Chair), Graham Craig, Bunny Burke, Roger Poirier, Katherine Hynes, and Tom Morrison. After the initial development the boardwalk was extended from the NW corner of Ross Lake to the top of the nearby rock cliffs by way of a wooden stairway, and a trail developed from there to the former ball park at the foot of North Avenue.
