綠島是一座太平洋中的小島"舊名為雞心嶼、青仔嶼與火燒島等，阿美族稱為Sanasay[2]，而達悟族則稱之為Jitanasey。西方人有稱之「Samasana島」。火燒島舊名眾說紛紜，以清嘉慶年間大火焚燒島嶼之說最為大眾採信。1937年（昭和12年）設火燒島莊，屬台東廳台東郡管轄。戰後火燒島設鄉，歸屬於台東縣管轄，於1948年（民國37年）改名為「綠島」，延用至今。 據歷史記載，綠島最早為達悟族、阿美族等原住民居地。1813年（嘉慶18年）小琉球（今琉球鄉）漢人漁民曾勝開等為風漂至火燒島，於阿眉山下的海濱建一共同住屋稱為公館，著手開墾，並且招小琉球家眷及民23眾至，因來者日眾，故在中寮灣岸建一聚落，名曰「中寮」，光緒後漢人往來更頻繁。 1850年（道光30年），東港漁民陳必先等餘人，在行船歸途中遭遇颱風，漂流至綠島，大嘆綠島之美，一年後便率人前來定居開墾，最早於柚子湖、溫泉一帶居住，後來移民漸增。即成為今日公館村、南寮村、中寮村、溫泉村等村落。

朝日溫泉，原稱作滾水坪（臺灣話：Kún-chúi-pêⁿ），位於台灣台東縣綠島的東南方帆船鼻一帶，面向太平洋，因朝向東邊日出方向，故命名為朝日溫泉，台灣日治時期名為旭溫泉。朝日溫泉為全世界三座可泡湯海濱溫泉之一。朝日溫泉的泉水出露點是在潮間帶的珊瑚礁旁，泉水來源是來自附近海域的海水或地下水，滲入地底後經由火山岩漿庫加熱所形成，在分類上屬於火成岩區的溫泉。
泉質，朝日溫泉的水質透明，泉水溫度約53℃，湧出口的水溫可達90℃，酸鹼值約為pH7.5，依其成分分類屬於硫酸鹽氯化物泉。

Green Island, also known by other names, is a small volcanic island in the Pacific Ocean about 33 km (21 mi) off the eastern coast of Taiwan. It is 15.092 km2 (5.83 sq mi) at high tide and 17.329 km2 (6.69 sq mi) at low tide, making it the Republic of China's seventh-largest island. The island is administered as Lyudao Township[1][2], a rural township of Taitung County and one of the county's two offshore areas (the other being Orchid Island). The island once served as a penal colony for political prisoners during Taiwan's period of martial law, although today it is primarily known as a tourist hotspot.

Zhaori Hot Spring Taiwan
The Zhaori Hot Spring (Chinese: 朝日溫泉; pinyin: Zhāorì Wēnquán) is a hot spring in Green Island, Taitung County, Taiwan. It is the only one of the three saltwater hot springs in the world.[1][2]

During the Japanese rule of Taiwan, the hot spring was named Asahi Hot Spring.[3]
Geology[edit]
The water source of the hot spring comes from the sea and underwater of the island heated by lava. The temperature of the hot spring ranges between 60-70°C.[4]
Architecture[edit]
The hot spring consists of three open-air pools, a spa pool and five terrace-like pools.[4][3]
