Geocache Description:

The cache is not hidden at the listed coordinates but at a location within 2km.

Formula One is the highest class of single-seater auto racing . The FIA Formula One World Championship has been one of the premier forms of racing around the world since its inaugural season in 1950.

The F1 World Championship season consists of a series of races, known as Grand Prix, usually held on purpose-build circuits, and in a few cases on closed city streets. The driver in 'pole position' is the driver that has qualified for the Grand Prix at the front of the starting grid, usually by obtaining the fastest lap time in qualifying sessions prior to the race.

Flags are frequently used during a race and flag signals are a vital part of the running of a Grand Prix race. They are the only way that race officials can communicate directly with the drivers. They tell a driver of danger, success and failure. Learning what they mean is one of the first things a young driver has to do - and they are as relevant to a novice as to Lewis Hamilton.

Some of the flags and the reasons they are used in a Grand Prix are shown below.

Displayed when a hazard has been cleared up, the green flag tells drivers that they can proceed at racing speed.

Hazard ahead and overtaking is prohibited. A single waved yellow flag means slow down, a double waved flag warns that the driver must be prepared to stop if necessary.

Indicates the track is slippery. The red and yellow striped flag usually warns of oil or water on the track.

Race has been stopped is signified by the red flag. Usually because a car is lying in a dangerous position after an accident or because conditions are too poor for racing to be safe.

Number of car also shown with the black flag with an orange disc to indicate that the car has a mechanical problem and the driver must return to his pit immediately.

End of race, the chequered flag is shown first to the winner, and then to every car to cross the line behind them.
