Fossárdalur – The valley of waterfalls Traditional Cache

Fossárdalur (Waterfall - river - valley) lies above Fóssarvik bay and is about 20 km long. Tall cliffs named Klif tower above the bay and hide the valley from those travelling along the highway. 

Fossárdalur valley is located within the Breiddalur volcanic area. The outstanding features of the valley are the 7-9 million-year-old layers of basalt that form rock faces and ridges in the mountains on both sides.

It´s a short “park and grab” traditional cache and can be found within few steps of the car. It´s not necessary to climb!
