Geocache Description:

1 - WOODS, MOUNTAINS AND ABER VIEWS - LETS START!

This is a new and extended series of 14 geocaches up and through Coed Glan Y Mor woods and out into open fields giving views of the distant Snowdonia mountain ranges and looking over to the nearby town of Aberyswyth.

It is a circular walk of 4.6km starting and finishing at Clarach Bay - a small beachside resort in between Aberystwyth and Borth in Mid Wales. The walk follows public footpaths which are signposted and the geocaches are placed to ensure that you should follow the route with ease.

We estimate that it should take about 2 hours to complete.

The walk will involve some short but steepish climbs up through the woods - hence the 3 terrain rating, but once at the top, you will be rewarded with delightful views over the coastline.

You could also start the walk from Aberystwyth by coming to the top of Constitution Hill and starting the circular route there with Cache number 11 - the Gate.

The caches are varied to make it a little more interesting but purposely not difficult as we would like you to appreciate all that the walk has to offer.

The woods are privately owned by Mr Alan Grover who has permitted the caches to be placed here. And Ceredigion Council is aware of the caches placed along the public footpaths and the local nature reserve.

Sheep are found in the open fields at the top of the hill.

PLEASE ENSURE THAT DOGS ARE KEPT ON LEADS AT ALL TIMES IN THE OPEN FIELDS SO THAT SHEEP AND LAMBS ARE NOT UNESSESARILY DISTURBED.

Please be aware that farmers are legally allowed to shoot dogs found worrying their livestock.

PARKING can be found in the lay by close to the start of the path -See waypoint. Alternative parking can be found in the Clarach bay car park - see another waypoint. HOWEVER, the car park is locked every evening so please take note of the gate closing times.

Remember that all outdoor activities have risk attached. Please take note of the terrain rating and watch out for brambles and loose rocks on the ascent and descent of the hill. Geocachers undertake this walk at their own responsibility.

CACHE NUMBER 1- after finding this cache DO NOT FOLLOW the coastal path where the signpost directs you to, but walk 50 yards up the road to find the waypoint showing the entryway path into the woods. Start climbing upwards in the direction of cache number 2.

Enjoy your walk!
