Geocache Description:

The logo, “Virginia is for Lovers”, marked its 50th anniversary this year.  In celebration of this iconic logo, the Virginia Tourism Corporation provided grants to 38 communities across the Commonwealth to showcase what makes a vacation in Virginia so special, and to show travelers why “Virginia is for Lovers” still rings true 50 years later.  To celebrate “50 Years of Love”, Scott County Tourism has created a commemorative, trackable geocoin.  Once you have found all 11 geocaches on our new geotrail and completed the required "passport" you will receive one of the commemorative geocoins.  There are 100 geocoins available and once they're gone we have a special Scott County trackable to give to geocachers who have completed the passport.

The iconic Devil's Bathtub.  Maybe you've been there, maybe you've wanted to visit it.  There's been a lot of buzz for several years now about the Devil's Bathtub which is located on National Forestry property (this cache is not).

The Devil’s Bathtub was recently named one of the Weather Channel’s Hidden Gems and is often cited as Virginia’s Number One travel destination.  The Devil’s Fork Loop Trail takes you on a seven-plus mile hike across stream beds, past Cascade Falls and to the Devil’s Bathtub, where a stunning stream races down a rock chute, swirls through the tub and heads downstream.  The “Tub” is 1.8 miles from the trail, if you just want to visit this scenic wonder.  Devil’s Fork Loop Trail is perfect for the back country enthusiasts who are willing to get their feet wet.  All hikers should be prepared to scramble over boulders, and should plan their visit during relatively low water conditions.  Take plenty of water and a snack and plan on at least a 3-4 hour hike.

This cache brings you to a stop along the route on the way to the Devil's Bathtub.  You can find someone to chauffer you to visit the Devil here.  This building has been around since the Civil War era.
