Geocache Description:

Located in a small park off Highway 31W just south of Munfordville
The area around where this cache is located is full of civil war history. Three distant battles were fought here between December 1861 and September 1862 to protect and control the major railroad bridge that crossed over Green River. Famous confederate general John Hunt Morgan was sworn in to the confederate army on the steps of a nearby church (The church is gone but the steps still remain)

Today the Hart County Historical Society has set up this small park on the former site of the Woodson House. The original house that look very much like the current home was constructed on the same foundation and was used as a hospital by Union troops during the civil war. There was a trail system that was here at one time that allowed you to go to some of the sites of the battle but as of the time of this cache placement, those trails are closed to the public until further notice. You are welcome to check out the small park here during your visit.

Parking within 200 feet of cache in rock parking lot off of 31 W
