Pocahontas
Denne cacheserie er en hyldest til Walt Disney, manden som har beriget vores barndom med så mange fantastiske tegnefilm.
Film nummer 33 af Disney Klassikerne er Pocahontas. Den udkom i kølvandet på Løvernes Konge, og til trods for rimelige anmeldelser, indspillede den ikke tilfredsstillende for Disney. På verdensplan har den indspillet 346 millioner dollars. Derudover har den høstet kritik for den racistiske undertone i filmen, som især indianerne i USA har reageret på. Filmen kritiseres også for at mangle humor. Den er bygget over den rigtige historie om Pocahontas, dog med store omskrivninger og 'Disney kunstnerisk frihed'.
I 1600-tallet stævner et skib ud fra England. Skibet skal til Amerika med nye folk, som ønsker at bosætte sig der. Efter en lang sørejse når de frem til Virginia, hvor de ønsker at slå sig ned. Her møder de dog modstand, da der i forvejen bor folk her, som ikke ønsker at flytte.
Landet er beboet af indianere, som ledes af Powhatan, en stolt høvding. Hans datter, Pocahontas, er en fri sjæl, og hun ønsker ikke at indordne sig og blive gift med Kocoum, en dygtig kriger, som hendes far har valgt til hende. Pocahontas søger råd hos Bedstemor Piletræ, som råder hende til at respektere sin far, men passe sin egen sjæl.
Da nybyggerne kommer, er Pocahontas først bange og frygtsom overfor de nye folk. De fleste af de nye kommer med trusler og modstanden er stor overfor dem. Dog er der nogle gode folk imellem og Pocahontas ender med at mægle mellem stammerne og nybyggerne. Specielt John Smith og Pocahontas opbygger et stærkt bånd.
Ikke alle, både på indianernes og nybyggernes side, syntes at deres venskab er en god ide. Derfor forsøger begge sider at ødelægge det. Og til sidst bliver John Smith nødt til at tage tilbage til England. Han ønsker at Pocahontas skal tage med, men hun vælger at blive tilbage og hjælpe sit folk.

Movie number 33 of the Disney Classics is Pocahontas. It was released just after the Lion KIng, and despite resonable reviews, ot didn't gross satisfactory for the Disney Group. Worldwide is has grossed $ 346 million. Other than that it has been criticized for the racist undertone in the movie, that especially the indians in the US has responded to. It is also critcized for it's lack of humor. The movie is based on the real story of Pocahontas, even though it has big rewritings and the 'Disney artistic freedom'.
In the 1600's a ship set sail from England. The ship is bound for America with new people, that want to settle there. After a long journey at sea, the ship reaches the coast of Virginia, and the want to live here. They do meet a lot of resistance, because there are people living there, who are not keen on moving.
The land is occupied with indians, led by Powhatan, a proud indian chief. His daughter, Pocahontas, is a free spirit and she doesn't want to settle and get married to Kocoum, a good warrior, chosen by her father.
Pocahontas sekk advice from Grandma Willow, who advises her to respect her father, but at the same time look after her own soul.
When the new settlers arrive, Pocahontas is scared at first and fearful of the new people.Some of the new settlers come with threats and the resistance towards them is huge.
There are good people among them though and Pocahontas ends up mediating between the tribes and the settlers. Especially John Smith and Pocahontas build a strong bond. Not everyone, on both the indians and the settlers side, think that their friendship is a good idea. So both sides try to destroy it.In the end John Smith has to go back to ENgland. He wants Pocahontas to go with him, but she chooses to stay and help her people.
