This is tohe history of Shiplake's Railway. When people did not have cars most people relied on the railway infact somany people did that there were two tracks for two directions.
Years after Karl Benz invented cars, most houses around here had a car and we did not need two trains so we took one one off.
If you look closely you will see the remains of a second track, just inside the fence.
(You will also notice that the platform is double sided!)
