Standing Rock Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
The cache is located in the vicinity of Standing Rock on Idaho Highway 36, between Weston, Idaho, and the Weston Reservoir. The cache is a 3.5 long by 2.5 diameter PVC pipe with screw threads.
After you sign the log, roll it up tightly and put it in the small section. It will be easier to then insert it in the larger section.
NOTE:
I changed the location of this cache on April 23, 2011 because the previous ammo container had been taken.
Standing Rock is a very prominent rock pinnacle on Idaho highway 36 between Weston, Idaho, and the Weston Reservoir. A plaque on Standing Rock has this inscription:
"No. 1 PASS OF THE STANDING ROCK, traversed and named by Capt. John C. Fremont August 29, 1843. Marked by the Daughters of Idaho Pioneers August 19*2."
The plaque has been defaced by Un-sportsman?s who have used it for rifle practice. The "*" in the date above is where a rifle shell impact obliterated the date. I hope that all "Geocachers" will stick to a code of ethics in which we will protect the land and its historical treasures.
The cache is located in the vicinity of Standing Rock. Standing Rock, on highway 36, can be reached from Malad, Idaho, or from Weston, Idaho.
