We are lucky to be able to observe these caribou over the passing winters and springs. I was fortunate one full moon January night to be traveling along this stretch at two or three in the morning. The full moon was making the snow glow and I could see the herd of caribou- some on either side of the road. I decided to park on the side of the road and get out and watch them. Along with the illumination of the moon, it was also a very "crisp" night. As I stood there silently- I could hear them crunching through the snow and snorting. I could hear movement behind me~ a pair came out f the trees and crossed the road about 25' from where I was standing. It's one of my favourite experiences I've had.
