Everybody loves a good puzzle cache, and everybody loves a good geocaching series, especially if it is done in the right way. As geocaching evolves and progresses it is becoming more and more common to see the more enjoyable ‘cache themes be used by more and more geocachers. Cache owners will collaborate with other hiders in the creation of a new series, sometimes a series is started with the idea that anybody can add to it, such as the ‘Church Micro Series’ here in South Australia. With the increasing popularity of puzzle caches, it is becoming more and more common for geocache hiders to borrow and adapt puzzle ideas they have seen elsewhere. Adding their own little twist to the solution. Sometimes two completely separate series are just smashed together to create a completely new series of puzzles or caches. This is often done for comic effect, a little in joke between geocache hiders and puzzle creators. A specific style of cache container can become a relevant part of a series as well, the Church series are specifically made up of Micro caches, a spool series specifically uses spools (or reels depending on where you come from in Adelaide). Now, whilst there are geocachers who do not like puzzles (do not ask me why they feel this way) , it can take a lot for geocachers to dislike a cache hide however. Geocachers always will appreciate finding a container and getting that smiley. Actually, why do geocachers not like puzzles? They are perfectly pleasant and add a great deal of enjoyment to geocaching. To me, not enjoying a good puzzle cache is just insane. One of the many benefits of puzzle caches is that solving them, or trying to solve them, provides all of us with the excellent excuse to procrastinate from our daily lives. This is also true of creating puzzles for geocaches as well. This is especially appealing to university students like myself who are trying to put off researching and writing their next assignments. However, I am starting to digress, I need to tell you more about this puzzle and cache. Firstly, it is not at the Belair Hotel, so do not even go there unless you have a thirst that only a beer or wine could quench. There is no cache container at that location.
