Part of the adventure of a holiday in Purbeck is the 4 minute chain ferry crossing from Sandbanks to Studland. Crossing the narrow entrance to Poole Harbour there has been a ferry in place here since 1923, and the current boat, Bramble Bush since 1994. The first ferry carried only 15 cars but Bramble Bush squeezes up to 52 at a push.
The journey has wonderful views out to the English Channel and into Poole Harbour and Brownsea Island. It is particularly recommended during a sunset!
For summer visitors there is also the experience of queueing! At peak times there can be up to a 90 minute wait wondering why no-one brings an ice cream van to water the thirtsty tourists at the start or end of their day.
I have wanted to place a cache here for a while but wondered if it would be too busy and would be quickly muggled. The current break in service however provides an ideal opportunity to enjoy the beauty without the steady stream of traffic.
Once Bramble Bush is back, stealth will definately be required!
You are looking for a nano tube - tweezers may be required. This cache has been placed with kind permission of the National Trust.
PLEASE ENSURE CACHE IS SECURELY ATTACHED TO HOST AS OTHERWISE WILL BLOW AWAY. Thanks 😊
