NATIONAL CYCLE ROUTE 1 MORAY PP
The National Cycle Network (NCN) was officially opened in June 2000. Was established to encourage cyclin g throughout Britain, as well as for the purposes of bicycle touring. It was created by the charity Sustrans who were aided by a National Lottery grant. There are ten national NCN routes; and are numbered from 1 to 10.
National Cycle Network Route 1 DOVER – SHETLAND, along the east coast, via London, Edinburgh, John o' Groats and Orkney.
PASSING PLACE
The NCN tries to provide as much off road routes as possible, however this is not always possible, so they then opt for unclassified (quieter) roads. These may be only wide enough for one vehicle. They may have special passing places. If you see a vehicle coming towards you, or the driver behind wants to overtake, pull into a passing place on your left, or wait opposite a passing place on your right. Give way to vehicles coming uphill whenever you can.
Please remember to bring TWEEZERS and something to write with. Thanks
