Geocache Description:

**The Geocache is not at the posted coordinates**.  You will need to do a simple waypoint projection from the listed coordinates.

This letterbox geocache will bring you to a lesser known, out of the way place in High Point State Park.  I discovered this particular location only recently, despite having been a repeat visitor here for years.

To get here, you'll need to walk through the site of the former High Point Inn and Kuser mansion.  Anthony Kuser, a businessman and philanthropist, and son of Prudential Insurance founder John F. Dryden, purchased the High Point Inn in 1910, and had the Inn remodeled to be used as one of his personal homes.  He planned to use the surrounding land to conduct forestry experiments and raise thousands of game birds, including ducks and phesants.  History says he seldom used the home and his plans for the land never came to fruition.  In 1922, Kuser donated his remodeled mansion and 10,500 acres of land for a state park.  A few years later, Kuser named an architect to design a war memorial in the form of an obelisk, which is now known as the High Point Monument.  The monument was started in 1928 and completed in 1930, one year after Kuser's death.

Unfortunately, the Kuser mansion itself was not preserved.  After serving as park headquarters until 1977, it fell into disrepair and was demolished in 1995.  I'm told that plans are in the works to have the panels replaced on the informational displays at the site of the former mansion.

Once you arrive at the posted coordinates, you're less than 100 feet away from the cache.  Now, take a seat.  Then, project a waypoint 1.36 chain lengths at a heading of 250° true.  It is there you will find the prize.  There is a stamp and logbook along with a few other small items for trade and a $5 DD gift card for FTF. Feel free to stamp your logbook and mine too if letterboxing is your thing, but PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE THE STAMPER from the geocache.
