Geocache Description:

This series is a dedication to a previous series that occupied this stretch of the Trans Canada Trail. Be sure to bring your own pen.

The Trans Canada Trail, also known as “The Great Trail,” is the world's longest network of trails. It is currently 24,000 kilometres long and leads to the Atlantic, Pacific, and Arctic Oceans. Parts of this path are present in all 13 provinces and territories in Canada.

This part of the path is known as The Heights Trail.  This trail was originally supposed to be part of a Scenic Drive that was meant to encircle the Burrard Inlet and Indian Arm.  In the 1930’s the City of Burnaby began acquiring property which it converted into Linear Parks along the proposed roadway.  The Great Depression and The Second World War put an end to the plan and the area eventually became green space.

Not far from McGill Park is McGill branch of the Public Library, which is named for Grace McGill a volunteer who had donated her time to the North Burnaby Library association since 1927.
