In this park there are the remnants of 2 ancient giants.
One huge red gum that grew here was one of the largest in South Australia and was over 660 years old. Up until 1930 it was a healthy tree but began to deteriorate over the next 25yrs. Due to falling limbs it was deemed by the Kalangadoo Council to be unsafe and this amazing tree was removed in 1955. All that remains today is a stump.
The remainders of a second huge tree lay alongside the stump. This tree was also very old approx 360 years and originally grew in the Council work depot. In a storm in 1995 it was blown over and was moved to where it now lays.
