La Senne prend sa source à Naast, dans la province du Hainaut, et parcours 103 km, passant par les trois régions de Belgique, avant de se jeter dans la Dyle au Zennegat, à Mechelen (Malines). Son bassin a une superficie de 1164 km² et elle passe, entre autres, par la commune de Tubize. Celle-ci tient son nom du germanique et signifie deux ruisseaux. Deux affluents de la Senne arrosent en effet la commune : la Sennette et le Cœurcq, mais le nom proviendrait plutôt de la Senne elle-même et de la Sennette.

De Zenne heeft zijn bron in Naast, in de provincie Henegouwen, en stroomt over 103 km, langs de 3 regios van België, alvorens zich in de Dijle aan het Zennegat, in Mechelen, te werpen. Zijn bedding heeft een oppervlakte van 1164 km² en loopt, onder andere, langs de gemeente van Tubize (Tubeke). Deze leent zijn naam van het Germaans en betekent "twee beken". Twee zijrivieren van de Zenne lopen inderdaad in de gemeente : De Senette en de Cœurcq, maar de naam komt eerder van de Zenne zelf en van de Senette.

Its basin has an area of 1164 km² and it flows, among others, through the municipality of Tubize/Tubeke. Its name came from Germanic and means two streams. There are two tributaries of the Senne/Zenne in Tubize : the Sennette and the Cœurcq, but the name came probably from the Senne itself and the Sennette.
