TFTC Sydney - Backpackers Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

TFTC_Sydney: Sadly, this cache has come to the end of its life. The YHA Backpacker hostel has been closed as the old parcel shed building will be demolished in the near future. As I understand it, a new high rise building will emerge. Who knows, perhaps a new TFTC Sydney - Backpackers will rise from the ashes.

Thanks to the 295 geocachers who visited this location and found the cache and commiserations to the 5 geocachers who were unable to find the cache. Special thanks to the 1 geocacher, (geo-tek from Vancouver, Canada) who awarded the lone Favourite Point.

The cache container has now been removed.

Geocache Description:

Totally Findable Tourist Caches

Welcome to Sydney

This series of geocaches is designed primarily with visitors to Sydney in mind who may have limited time and transport options and want a quick and easy find while out enjoying some sightseeing around this beautiful city.

All cache containers will be one of three types; a flat magnetic key case (MKC), a round film canister (FC or MFC for magnetic) or a fake rock (FR).

The hint will indicate the type of container used and will be very specific to help you find the cache easily. If you want a challenge to find this cache and don't wish to know exactly where it's hidden, do not look at the hint.

At each location you’ll be given some information about the site you are visiting.

Enjoy!

The Parcel Shed

This cache is located next to a popular backpackers hostel. This building is connected to Central Station and once served as the “Inwards Parcels Shed” for Australia Post. The parcels would arrive via a tunnel direct from the Sydney Post Office, ready to be loaded onto trains and transported around the country. Today, guests staying at the backpackers can sleep in replica old railway carriages.

**The cache is placed with the knowledge and permission of the management.
