Two Slugs Raced Into The Cuckoo's Nest Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

volksgeogypsies: In a way, this cache became a "thing" with someone intent on bedeviling us. About 18 months ago, the catch on the door of the birdhouse vanished. We replaced it with a better catch. Shortly thereafter, one of the slugs glued to the inside of the 'house' vanished. We replaced it, and a month or so later, both of the slugs disappeared! We replaced those and used some very wonderful glue, AND we put a combination lock with a suitable hasp on the door. A couple of weeks later the lock/hasp and slugs evaporated! Replaced lock/hasp (very strong) and screwed/glued two more slugs inside the house. All that is left is shown in the shot below! So, thought we best archive and do something a little more out of sight. New slugs on bark on the ground! Out of sight!

Geocache Description:

Started out thinking that "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" (remember the movie?) would make a good theme and title.   After all, we had a pretty classy nest thing, and a goofy looking bird, so it looked like a "go!".  But Wait!  We also had a couple of slugs that begged to be incorporated! No Problem!  Just a little 'tweeking' to the title and away we go!   But wait!  The title alteration signals a modification to the theme.  Much time head scratching before we finally decided:   there is no theme..................

The cache container is listed as "regular" in size, but the construction and configuration is such that little room is available for swag or trackable items.

From the parking coordinates, go to Barrows Road and turn left.  Walk a couple of hundred feet to a protected crosswalk and cross Barrows Road.  Proceed slightly to your right (northerly) on a paved path to the coordinates for the unmarked trail.  From there, it is a short walk to GZ.  Caution!  This little trail section could become 'slug slime' when wet!
