Second in the series of four 'Advancetown Amble'. As Brisbane grew in the early 19th century so to did the timber industry in The Gold Coast Hinterland. Settlements grew at timber mills and road junctions giving rise to the need for accommodation and supplies. Tracks developed into roads as the bush was cleared. Over time places like Advancetown grew. The first Europeans settled in 1881 and the town grew because it was a way station between the cedar forests of Beechmont and the station to Brisbane. To reach the cache take a relaxing ride across the water with a picnic and enjoy the bush setting. This is a challenging cache. It's quite a paddle then a bit of an up walk. Bring water and a snack. The Hinze Dam is a great place for recreational activities and relaxing.
