Have you ever went to find a "random", lonely geocache, and found it to be an AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL spot? A spot that, even after finding many more amazing geocaches, you just can't seem to get out of your mind? This is exactly the case for me for GC1GWB5 - A forest of huge boulders:Indian Rock Shelter/cave - which was placed way back in 2008. On my log from 9-27-18, I mentioned seeing at least 3 other spots that "needed" caches, so here they are! This cache adventure has it all: a stream crossing, beautiful scenery, amazing and HUGE rock formations, and much more! This is a series of 3.
The parking area for this series of 3 caches is located just off of Route 22 onto Mt. Tabor Road near Brush Valley, Indiana County, PA, These caches are loated in a small section of PA State Game Lands. At parking, cross the road and head downhill towards the stream. Here you will need to cross the stream. This is a small stream, but at various times of the year, it could be really rushing. Please be careful! If you can't find a safe spot to cross, STOP and go back to parking. Once you're on the other side of the stream, you should find the trail. Keep on this main trail to find all 3 caches, and then continue on for 0.2 miles to find GC1GWB5 - A forest of huge boulders:Indian Rock Shelter/cave. My caches are only 50-150 ft off the main trail, so there should be no need to bushwhack. The trail can be very muddy, so hiking boots are a must. Also, wear your orange, this is a hunting area! For more information on the area and hints to get here, see the cache page for GC1GWB5.
Cache #3 is at another HUGE rock on the trail (I couldn't help it, there's so many!). From here, GC1GWB5 - A forest of huge boulders:Indian Rock Shelter/cave is only 0.2 miles away. Go there! If you've already found it, it is definitely worth a revisit.
