Geocache Description:

This park offers everything from swimming to baseball to gymnastics to tennis to theatre to horseshoes to a running track and much more.   Now it offers a geocache.

Larry Bell, the park's namesake, is an interesting figure in aviation history. He was a high school dropout but had a love for aviation that helped him start a career at Martin Aviation and then Consolidated Aircraft. He started his own company in 1935, Bell Aicraft, which built military aircraft used in WWII, the Bell X-1 which was the first supersonic aircraft, and many civilian and military helicopters. His connection to Marietta is because Bell helped build B-29 bombers at the nearby Bell Bomber Plant. He was inducted into the National Aviation Hall of Fame, the Army Aviation Hall of Fame, and the International Aerospace Hall of Fame.
