Geocache Description:

The age of roadside parks began around 1935. LBJ worked to create jobs for Great Depressions youths as director of the National Youth Adminstration. By 1938 around 674 roadside park were in Texas.
Moving on to 1965 LBJ had the  Highway Beautification Act of 1965 to create larger brighter safer rest areas, all to keep travelers safe and happy.
This is one of the last existing beacons from the depression era roadside parks. The main road used to run through here but that was many picnics ago.
