Once Eliza Jane and her family were finished with the wonderful picnic lunch that Grandmother had prepared, she and Uncle William went for a walk.
There were so many new stone structures all over the Island, and Eliza Jane wanted to see them all! Boots ran on ahead, but kept looking back to make sure they were following. There was even one stone structure that was big enough to be a house! It was so pretty, the way it was finished off inside. And it had a nice view of the water too! This side was known as Tonawada Creek, not the Erie Barge Canal.
As they walked and talked, they saw so many different bugs! Eliza Jane was most surprised to see a large Grasshopper! It was so easy to spot because of it's bright green color. Eliza Jane had read about them recently and Grasshoppers were a symbol of good luck and joy, just like Lady Luck! It would influence you to experience the joys of living! That was certainly true today, as they were having a wonderful time!
So come and explore the Island with the memories of Eliza Jane and Boots. Bring a friend, bring a dog, bring a picnic and experience the joys of living. But please, do not come at night.
