So where in the world is Huckleberry Island? Piece of trivia: there are 9 Huckleberry Islands in the US, but this one is probably the smallest and least visited. At the time the cache was placed, we were able to get there feet dry all the way. This will change (along with the difficulty level) with the seasons and water level.
Park along Island Cottage Road at a wide graveled spot, NOT on the Parkway. That is both illegal and extremely dangerous.
Be sure to mark the waypoint where you enter the wooded area. Trails are indistinct at best, with lots of detours and climbing over and under heavy brush. Take a good compass bearing also, to make sure you come back out the same way.
Cache is a 50 cal ammo box painted green. Once on the island you shouldn’t have too much difficulty finding it. Good luck!
