UPDATE: This is one awesome track but unfortunately the Track has been recently closed (well before necessary) but we have moved the cache from it's original location to the "Track Closed" sign.
It's so unfortunate as it practically received a favourite point from everyone who got this cache!
Myself, hubby and Mr 8 went for the hike to retrieve this cache so that we could hopefully keep it going.
It is still a gorgeous area to visit. You will be able to see the Totem Rocks on your Drive in but unfortunately you will no longer be able to get the natural window framing it.
You are looking for a semi camouflaged mint tin. Inside is a log and pencil.
I hope you all still enjoy this cache for years to come!
ORIGINAL CACHE DETAILS (WAYPOINT COORD POSTED)
If you like to hike you should enjoy this cache. It is a short hike, <1km, with some amazing photography opportunities along the way 📸 (Please be sure to share your photos too)
Take plenty of water and wear enclosed shoes and long pants, unless you like spinifex in your legs 😫. I wouldn't recommend for young children as there are a couple of cliff edges to be cautious of.
Once you get to GZ, you will notice a small window which perfectly frames the "Totem Rocks" just ahead.
If you're up for it after the cache, there is a more advanced hike trail around to the left before the rock pile waypoint. It is know as Charles Knife Ridge Walk and is a 3.5km return hike (though feels much longer) with an elevation change of approximately 184m. The highest point being about 292m above sea level with sections that are quite narrow and hairy. If your going to attempt this one, keep in mind you may not have phone signal and it can get quiet hot out in the range so you will need to be prepared.
Exploring Charles Knife Road further will lead you down to Thomas Carter Lookout which has an elevation of 311m with great views. This also marks the beginning of another hike trail known as Badjirrajirra Trail which takes you along a 6.8km return loop that offers views of Shothole Canyon and Exmouth Gulf, while you wind your way through rocky gullies, small gorges and across open bushland.
Thomas Carter Lookout also marks the end of the road unless you don't mind some scrub scratches on the duco and decide to explore further.
As mentioned above; phone signal in the range is scarce, the temperatures can exceed 50°C and there is no water supply, so always let someone know where you are going or even better go as a group, take plenty of water and just be generally prepared.
I hope you love this one as much as I did. I had never been here before nor did I know I was going to be hiding a chace here but good thing I had one on me as the location is to amazing to be kept a secret ⭐
