Geocache Description:

One of the coolest lakeside Geocaches in all of Utah!

Strawberry Reservoir is one of my favorite places to fish. The rainbow, cutthroat, and kokanee are big, healthy, and plentiful. The air is fresh and the surroundings are peaceful.

If it isn't obvious, this cache is ALL ABOUT FISHING ... and fishing at Strawberry in particular.

As you may have noticed, the name of the geocache is "Lure Me Inn" where the word "Inn" infers that this is good place for Geocache trackables and travel bugs to stop at on their journeys around the world.

Gently lift off the fabric cover and carefully replace it before you leave.

Since I came up with the idea of placing this cache, it has taken about two years to build the box, fabricate the copper roof, draw and carve the woodwork art, to get the decorative antique lures, to assemble it all, get permission from the land owners, and to place the cache. It really has been a great project with several people involved.

Here is a little information about the container, the artist, and the contributors to this Geocache project:

The Wood Carving

The beautiful wood carving of a cutthroat trout on the front of the cache box was carefully drawn, meticulously carved, and generously donated to the project by my very good friend, and talented artist, Gary Liptrot of Ogden, UT. ... Thanks Gary! ...

Update: Our dear friend, Gary Liptrot, passed away only a month before we were able to place this cache. But even from behind the vail, we believe that he helped us get this placed.

In Loving Memory of

Artist and Wood Carver

The Copper Roof

The copper roof was fabricated by Tim Nimtz who is a very talented artist and master coppersmith. His shop, "TNT Copper Fabrications", is located in Clearfield, UT. ... Thanks Tim! ...

The Decorative Lures

The 40 or so lures that adorn the two sides of the cache box (several of which are antique) were mostly donated by my good friend Scott Tolentino. Because Scott is the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources Fisheries Biologist for Bear Lake, he often collects old spoon lures during his gill netting projects. Scott told me that he is a little superstitious about using these lures to fish with. So he gave them all to me to use to decorate the cache box. ... Thanks Scott! ...
