Nestos is the river that separates Xanthi from Kavala. Close to Galani village, there is an area called Tempi which is actually the riverside where you can find a sandy beach that you can take advantage and enjoy with everything the river has to offer.
You can have picnic, river sports, rock climbing, canoe kayak, swimming and if you prefer a quick meal or a more advanced dinner to the nearby taverns and also you can hike on the unique path just on the shore of the river, over the train rails (which will guide you to another cache of mine, little bit more adventurous but very beautiful "Nestos river cache" GC6YRXJ")
