About the museum

Russian people drink tea in the morning, in the afternoon, and always at four o’clock. They drink it in the evening and simply so. Russians drink tea with milk, lemon, jam and with pleasure. They love strong, infused and hot tea so that their lips burned. The visitor delicately refused liquid tea, “through which Moscow could be seen”, and could not endure drinking it from the teapot. At that time, in Moscow, samovars were boiling in every house.

Centuries pass, but the samovar does not age. The tradition of tea party continues to live and develop. Writer Valentin Rasputin wrote: “Tea without a samovar is still not tea. No taste. Watering hole and that’s all. ”

Recently, interest has increased in samovars as objects of decorative art. The lasting popularity of the samovar is explained by the fact that the samovar has always been the personification of Russian hospitality and cordiality, disposed to intimate conversation, brought peace and comfort to the house.

In the 60s, during the Khrushchev "thaw", the fashion for picking up samovars, other household items and all kinds of antiquities spread among the townspeople.

And although this hobby was ridiculed in the press and declared "petty bourgeois", it must be said that thanks to him much was saved, including many wonderful witnesses of Russian life - samovars.

Collectors literally saved the samovars, finding them at metal collection points, in abandoned village houses and city dumps, often in the form of a pile of crumpled rust metal.

The museum features more than 300 samovars, copper household utensils, dishes and all kinds of accessories for the tea ceremony, interior items. All exhibits are located in three rooms. Of great interest to museum visitors is the exposition room - the tea room.

The collection tells about the development of samovar business, its distribution throughout Russia and the emergence of various factories.

Our museum presents samovars of various forms: a jar, a vase, a glass, a muzzle, an acorn, an egg, a pear, a ball, etc. The variety of their finishes is also striking: caeseloring, engraving, silver plating, nickel plating, etc.

Samovar is poetry. This is a circle of friends and relatives, warm and cordial peace ...

The Museum of samovar is a place where you can join the amazing Russian culture and history of ancient samovars.

The Museum is open to everyone from Tuesday to Sunday from 10.00 to 17.00.

Monday — day off
