Trannon Valley is one of the most fertile in Wales as in 1870's the government supplied pipes to drain the land and the land owners supplied the labour. Farming is still the main land use today, however there are caravan parks and luxury lodges near by. The village is a mix is old and new housing with the pub in the heart of the village. If you walk to Trefeg trail 2 you will cross the river Trannon.
